About and missions

Established in 1987, the Union of Women’s Action (UAF) is a landmark non-governmental feminist organization in Morocco. In 1995, UAF made history by launching Morocco’s first dedicated listening center for women survivors of domestic and gender violence, named 'Annajda' (SOS) in Rabat. That innovative model expanded across the country, building a renowned national support network.

Annajda centers deliver integrated crisis responses for women enduring domestic, familial, sexual, or economic violence. By uniting unconditional empathetic listening, specialized psychological counseling for relational trauma, and diligent legal and social casework, UAF empowers survivors to break cycles of isolation, regain agency, and rebuild safe, dignified lives.

Annajda network: active listening and trauma-informed psychological recovery

Active listening in Annajda centers deliberately rejects the denial and trivialization often confronting survivors. Therapists work to untangle psychological patterns of coercive control, relieve internalized guilt imposed by abusers, and guide survivors toward emotional restoration through evidence-based brief trauma therapies.

Social mediation, legal justice assistance, and protective shelter

Escaping abusive relationships requires solid legal security and material stability. UAF coordinates pro-bono attorneys to launch protective orders, child custody claims, and divorce proceedings, while providing safe housing and financial independence training essential to long-term autonomy.
