About and missions

Located in the historic heart of Fes, the Batha Centre is a pioneer multifunctional crisis and shelter facility established to provide dignified sanctuary and comprehensive casework for women surviving domestic, physical, or psychological violence alongside their dependent children. Managed in close synergy with the Initiative for the Protection of Women's Rights (IPDF), the facility combines physical safety, trauma-informed psychological therapy, and sustainable economic empowerment.

Batha's psychological unit provides immediate crisis de-escalation consultations upon intake to alleviate acute panic and traumatic dissociation. Clinical psychologists conduct peer support circles, emotional stabilization workshops, and assertiveness training sessions to rebuild residents' self-worth. In parallel, the center houses a legal desk offering free legal counsel and court accompaniment, complemented by an on-site vocational training wing (tailoring, artisanal handicrafts, digital skills) designed to foster financial independence upon shelter exit.

Support and services

Secure emergency shelter accommodation and meals for victimized women and dependent children. Individual psychological trauma counseling and emotional stabilization therapy. Weekly peer support groups, art therapy, and self-worth workshops. Free legal counseling, administrative guidance, and court accompaniment. Child development and psycho-educational support spaces for resident children. Accredited vocational training workshops and economic inclusion assistance.

Psychological Rebuilding and Breaking the Cycle of Domestic Abuse

Prolonged domestic violence generates a destructive cycle of psychological coercive control wherein survivors lose personal agency and internalize chronic self-blame. At Batha Centre, clinical therapy focuses on dismantling this psychological control through non-judgmental, consistent validation. Psychologists empower women to name the violence experienced, recognize manipulation dynamics, and activate internal coping capacities to reclaim sovereignty over their lives and families.

Therapeutic Care for Children Witnessing Domestic Violence

Children residing in homes plagued by domestic abuse are direct co-victims who experience severe developmental anxiety, sleeping disorders, and behavioral regression. Batha Centre features a dedicated early childhood therapeutic space staffed by specialized educators and psychologists. Through creative play and expressive drawing, young children release repressed fears, regain developmental predictability, and avoid the intergenerational transmission of violent relationship models.
