About and missions

Founded in 1988 by Professor Hakima Himmich and recognized as a public-utility organization in 1993, the Association for the Fight Against AIDS (ALCS) is the pioneering NGO responding to HIV/AIDS in Morocco and the MENA region. Through its national network of regional branches, the organization implements an empathetic community health model anchored in strict confidentiality and peer support.

Beyond rapid demedicalized testing and preventive campaigns, ALCS places holistic psychological well-being at the heart of its mission. Specialized caseworkers support beneficiaries through post-diagnosis adjustment, confront social and workplace discrimination, and strengthen adherence to antiretroviral therapy within a respectful and uplifting environment.

Support and services

Rapid, free, confidential, and anonymous testing for HIV and hepatitis C in stationary clinics and outreach vans.
Individual pre- and post-test psychological counseling delivered by certified clinicians and trained counselors.
Peer-led support circles and emotional resilience groups for individuals living with HIV and their families.
Emergency material relief and social casework for vulnerable households (food packages, medical transportation stipends).
Distribution of protective commodities during targeted harm-reduction and street outreach initiatives.
Legal advocacy and mediation services safeguarding beneficiaries against healthcare exclusion and social prejudice.

Free anonymous information and rapid testing centers (CIDAG)

Operating across major Moroccan cities, ALCS CIDAG centers offer a safe, confidential environment for health screening. Each rapid test is accompanied by a private counseling session addressing personal risk assessments, answering concerns, and reinforcing individualized protective habits.

Psychological counseling and therapeutic adherence support

A positive diagnosis frequently triggers existential, familial, and occupational anxieties. ALCS psychological caseworkers provide individual and group therapy sessions assisting patients in coping with distress, sustaining long-term medical adherence, and rediscovering confidence in their life prospects.
