1 Aims and process
The practitioner observes needs, makes themselves available to listen and helps people access practical support. The person retains the choice of whether to talk about what they have just experienced.
2 Scope and limitations
The approach does not involve imposing a debriefing or requesting a detailed account. It does not replace medical care, urgent protection or specialist follow-up.
