Orient-Occident Foundation (FOO)
Pioneering foundation dedicated to clinical trauma rehabilitation for migrants and refugees, intercultural dialogue, and socio-professional inclusion for vulnerable Moroccan youth.
About and missions
Established in 1994 and recognised as a public utility foundation, the Orient-Occident Foundation considers mental health and emotional well-being essential prerequisites for civic integration and human dignity. An operational partner to UNHCR and international agencies, FOO operates multidisciplinary listening and psychosocial rehabilitation centres across Rabat, Oujda, Tangier, Casablanca, and Fes. Clinical staff deliver culturally sensitive psychiatric and psychological interventions to marginalised Moroccan youth as well as displaced refugees traumatised by armed conflict. Modalities combine transcultural psychotherapy, art therapy, psychodrama, and vocational training. The foundation's initiatives stem from the conviction that cultural diversity and the humane reception of displaced populations enrich Moroccan civic society. Its collaborative hubs foster intercultural dialogue, deconstruct xenophobic preconceptions, and empower empathetic youth leadership.

Forced migrants regularly present complex PTSD symptoms, complicated bereavement, and chronic psychosomatic complaints. FOO clinical psychologists deploy culturally sensitive therapeutic frameworks respecting each individual’s native language, cultural tenets, and unique traumatic journey. The psychological clinic addresses cumulative losses endured throughout perilous migration routes, survivor guilt, and existential anxiety linked to precarious legal status, facilitating holistic subjective reconstruction.
Intercultural mediation and therapeutic workshops
Artistic and creative expression acts as a potent therapeutic catalyst when speech is stifled by emotional agony. Through painting, creative writing, and community psychodrama, participants rekindle creative agency and establish meaningful bonds with host communities.
Vocational training and sustainable empowerment
Psychological stability solidifies when individuals regain productive autonomy within society. The foundation provides certified training in digital skills, hospitality, and languages, while supporting micro-entrepreneurship for sustained financial dignity. Program graduates receive corporate internships and dedicated professional mentorship, securing smooth economic transitions into the formal labor force while averting exploitation in informal employment.
